What Kerala Ayurvedic massage (Abhyanga) is
Abhyanga is the classic oil massage of Ayurveda, the traditional system of wellbeing from India, and Kerala is especially known for it. The massage is given with warm herbal oil and uses long, flowing strokes that follow the length of the limbs, with circular movements over the joints.
Compared with a deep tissue session, the pressure is medium and the rhythm is steady and even. The experience is warming and grounding, and the oil is part of the therapy rather than just a way to reduce friction.

Is the oil messy?
A generous amount of oil is used. We bring sheets to protect your furniture and towels for afterwards. Plan to shower about 30 minutes after the session.
Will the oil stain my bedding or sofa?
We cover the table and floor with our own sheets. Wear old clothes after the session if you are not showering immediately.
How is this different from deep tissue massage?
Abhyanga uses medium pressure and lots of warm oil with a steady rhythm. Deep tissue focuses on slow, firm work in specific areas.
Which languages do your therapists speak?
Sessions are given in English. If you would prefer another language, ask when booking.
